Be An Elf! Helping Hungry Kids

Year 8 - 2025

We have gone official!! EIN#: 33-1521678

Be An Elf! – Helping Hungry Kids, has been a registered 501(c) non-profit organization for over a year, and I am very proud of the results. Having recently turned 15, Be An Elf! has reached it’s 1-year anniversary as a federally registered non-profit, and that one year was our most successful ever. Aside from raising money face-to-face, we created a GoFundMe as well (and even won a bonus from them). In total, we raised over $3500 last year, significantly more than what we usually raise. After that monumental achievement, we are back to help even more.

In 2018, Be an Elf! – Helping Hungry Kids was founded. After 7 years of community service, we are more than willing to continue. While it is not common knowledge, over 6000 scholars in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are in serious need of financial aid. Though Be An Elf! does not help with the finances, we can help by donating food to satisfy their hunger.  My fundraiser reaches approximately 1,000 kids of those in need. Over the past 7 years, we have served over 17,000 healthy meals together and provided over 1,500 family sanitary kits through Be An Elf!

Last year every $19 (approx.) donated to our cause provided 3-4 healthy meals for a family of 4, as well as a family sanitary kit.

In 2024, each Meal Box had 2-3 lbs. of rice, 2 cans of chicken breast, 2 cans of vegetables, 2 cans of beans, and 1 box of Mac and Cheese. In total, this served 3000 meals (approx.). Individually, the value of each Meal Box was $12.50

Each Sanitary Kit had 2 toothbrushes, 1 full-size toothpaste, 1 deodorant, 2 soap cakes, and 1 full-size shampoo. In total, these served 150 families. Individually, the value of each Sanitary Kit was $6.50.

(please refer to the data sheet with the content details in the envelope for more details)

Not many people know this but about 1.3 million families in North Carolina are below the poverty line, limiting their lifestyles and access to basic necessities. These families need assistance as soon as possible!!

Additionally, this year I am in 9th grade, and high school is a whole new ballgame with lots of different people, experiences, and obstacles. Among this new ecosystem, I still see a tremendous amount of kids who seem neglected or lacking in the context of both food and hygiene.

Hence, I attempt to help.
